What We Believe

Belief Restored to Its Proper Meaning

At Call to Reason Ministries, belief is not treated as a religious opinion held strongly enough to become conviction.

To believe Truth is to recognize it, assent to it, trust it, and place oneself in relation to it. Biblical belief therefore concerns more than agreement with propositions. It involves the willing assent of the person to the Truth perceived.

Understanding matters because meaningful belief cannot be separated from reason. Yet understanding alone is not belief. A person may understand what is true and still refuse its claim.

I. The Trinity: The Tri-unity of Love

Christianity has historically confessed one God revealed as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. CTR understands this Trinity as the Tri-unity of Love.

The significance of the Trinity is therefore not exhausted by establishing that God is three and yet one. The Tri-unity reveals something fundamental about what God is.

God is relational Life.

Within the terminology of the Logic of Creation, the Father expresses divine Authority and Order; the Spirit is divine Impetus or Synergy; and the Son is Logos, the Representation and manifestation of divine Logic. These distinctions do not divide God into competing centres. They reveal divine unity in which Order, Synergy and Representation exist without contradiction.

Spirituality in Reality: The Logic of Creation accordingly describes the Tri-Une as the Blueprint and Framework of Love and moves immediately from divine relation into the practical demands of justice, mercy, Humility and submission.

Why Three Matters

Love requires relation, but relation alone does not establish Love. Even two persons may exist in a stable relationship governed principally by reciprocity: each gives because each receives. Cooperation, affection and mutual benefit may all be present while self-interest remains the governing principle.

The third relation exposes a deeper possibility. One may now act for the good of another without oneself being the immediate beneficiary of the return. Relation can move beyond reciprocal possession into genuine anti-self.

The significance of the Tri-unity is therefore not merely numerical. It is relational. Divine Life is not hoarded, bargained or exchanged for advantage. It is given, received and expressed for another.

Personhood is not erased by this. Father, Son and Spirit remain personally distinguishable. What divine Love excludes is not individuality but self as the governing principle of relation.

This distinction is important to CTR. The person is not the self. The death of self does not mean the destruction of individuality; it means the destruction of self-interest, self-exaltation and self-preservation as the ruling centre of identity and relation.

The Tri-unity therefore reveals Love as more than sentiment. It is the harmonious expression of Synergy and Order within personal Life: mercy without abandoning Truth, sacrifice without disorder, service without servility, and Authority without selfish domination.

The practical consequence is unavoidable: A person may defend the doctrine of the Trinity while remaining unlike the God whose Trinity he defends. Correct theology is therefore not yet godliness. To know God is increasingly to become capable of His manner of relation.

II. The Science of Salvation

CTR affirms the Gospel of salvation through Yeshua the Christ: His incarnation, sacrifice, resurrection, priestly ministry, transforming Spirit, Judgment and final restoration. The Science of Salvation is our description of the coherent process these truths reveal.

The Sanctuary [Miqdash (מִקְדָּשׁ)] is especially important because it does more than furnish Christianity with religious symbols. Its sacrifices, priesthood, altar, laver, holy places, feasts and final cleansing make visible the ordered work of restoration.

The question is therefore not merely, What does each symbol represent?

The deeper question is: What does the manner in which God commanded sin to be handled reveal about the nature of sin and the means by which Life is restored?

The manuscript structures this restorative process through the Sanctuary, with Passover revealing embedded anti-logic, Unleavened Bread carrying forward the death of Pride, First Fruits introducing the birth of Humility and Sanctification, and the later feasts bringing the work toward maturity, Judgment and final restoration.

Sin and anti-logic

Sin does not originate in outward manifestations. Conduct reveals the governing logic from which it proceeds.

CTR uses the term anti-logic for the contradiction that occurs when created Life attempts to function contrary to the Logic upon which Life depends. Pride becomes the governing disposition. Self becomes centre. Relation becomes resource. Desire becomes authority. The outward act eventually manifests the contradiction already operating within.

Sin is first a contradiction in governing logic; conduct is its manifestation. This is why behaviour modification cannot complete salvation. The governing principle itself must change.

The Lamb and the Death of Self

The Sanctuary begins by confronting the sinner with sacrifice. The Lamb does not merely communicate that a penalty must somehow be transferred. His innocent Life exposes what sin produces and what anti-logic ultimately requires: death.

At the same time, Christ’s sacrificial service reveals the opposite principle. Where Pride preserves self, Logos gives Himself. Where anti-logic exploits, Love serves. Where self seeks advantage, Humility accepts sacrifice for another.

The sacrifice therefore condemns sin not only judicially, but revelationally; it exposes the nature of the thing from which humanity must be saved. Repentance becomes more than sorrow over consequences. The sinner begins to agree with God concerning the thing that is killing him.

Justification

CTR affirms the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ. Fallen humanity possesses neither Life nor Righteousness with which to rescue itself from the condition sin has produced. The Lamb stands in the place of the sinner, and the sinner receives in Christ what could never be autonomously generated.

Yet Justification is not permission for anti-logic to continue undisturbed. Grace creates the possibility of restoration. The pardoned sinner is not merely released from death. He is invited into Life.

Sanctification

The Sanctuary does not terminate at the brazen altar. The person brought to the death of self must be raised into a different Life. Pride gives way to Humility. The Spirit enters the work. The cleansed vessel becomes capable of communion, intercession, nourishment, light and service.

Sanctification is therefore not behavioural polishing. It is the cultivation of a new governing reality within the person.

SIRLOC describes this as a bonding in which the Holy Spirit dwells within the consciousness, the “menorah of Love” is kindled, and the restored believer begins to participate in priestly service rather than remaining merely the recipient of ministry. The practical question follows naturally: What does the Life received now inspires the person to give?

The renewed person does not merely become safer from punishment. He becomes useful to Life.

Prophet, Priest and King

The many movements of the Sanctuary are gathered in the threefold ministry of Christ as Prophet, Priest and King, corresponding broadly to Justification, Sanctification and Glorification.

As Prophet, Christ reveals and confronts. As Priest, He reconciles, intercedes and ministers restoration. As King, He judges, confirms and establishes.

The sevenfold Sanctuary pattern therefore unfolds within one continuous redemptive work. The pattern is dynamic rather than merely ceremonial: salvation exposes anti-logic, brings self to death, establishes Holy Life and finally reveals what has become resident.

Judgment and Glorification

Judgment is not foreign to salvation; if salvation concerns what the person is actually becoming, Judgment reveals what has become true.

Profession can imitate. Ethics can regulate behaviour. persona can perform. Sentiment can resemble Love for a season. Judgment concerns reality.

The wedding garment therefore signifies more than religious association. It represents the Righteousness of Christ as the covering of restored Life. Glorification is the public confirmation of a completed redemptive work: the creature finally established in the Life to which Grace called him.

III. Righteousness by Faith

The Logic of Creation ultimately converges upon Righteousness by Faith.

Created Life is derivative. It cannot originate its own Life. Fallen Life, governed by anti-logic, cannot manufacture Righteousness from the same corrupted source. External law may identify Order and expose contradiction, but it cannot create within the creature the state it describes.

Salvation must therefore involve receiving from God what the creature cannot autonomously produce. That receiving is faith.

Faith

Faith is neither intellectual passivity nor the suspension of reason. Belief is the assent of the person to recognized Truth. Faith is the continuing confidence by which the person entrusts himself to that Truth and lives accordingly.

Faith therefore cannot be reduced to claiming that a proposition concerning Christ is true. It places the person into living relation with Logos. And genuine faith cannot remain barren.

Righteousness

CTR understands Righteousness as more than correct behaviour and more than conformity to a socially recognized standard of goodness. Righteousness concerns state.

A good act may be performed for selfish reasons. A polite person may remain governed by Pride. Charity may purchase reputation. Religious discipline may strengthen persona. Outwardly correct conduct therefore cannot, by itself, identify the spirit from which it proceeds.

The crucial question remains: What governs the act?

Character

When Righteousness becomes resident as authentic identity, it is Character. Character is not simply a collection of habits repeated long enough to become stable. It is the person increasingly established in the Order he has received.

This is why mature Character does not destroy freedom. The righteous person does not become less free because anti-logic becomes increasingly foreign to who he has freely become. Freedom matures into coherence.

Good Works

Good works have their proper place, but their order must never be reversed. Good works do not create Righteousness. Righteousness creates good works. The fruit does not manufacture the tree; it reveals its life.

This protects the Gospel from two opposite distortions. Legalism attempts to preserve Order while lacking the living Synergy by which Order becomes Love. Sentimentalism attempts to claim Love while separating feeling from the Order that gives Love truth, discipline and stability.

Legalism has Order without Synergy. Sentimentalism has Synergy without Order. Love has both. Righteousness by Faith therefore permits neither manufactured holiness nor affection divorced from Truth. Where Logos becomes resident, Life eventually becomes visible.

Love

The proper expression of Righteousness is Love. Within the Logic of Creation, Righteousness is resonant Order established as state. Character is that Righteousness made resident as authentic identity. Love is that Righteousness expressed through Synergy from Character.

The Christian life therefore does not culminate in the ability to explain Christianity. It culminates in becoming capable of Love.

Primitive Godliness

CTR uses primitive godliness to mean fundamental, practical godliness: the simplicity of divine Life made visible in ordinary relation.

SIRLOC uses the term in contrast with a polished Christianity in which doctrine, religious activity and socially respectable virtue may remain disconnected from the actual death of Pride and cultivation of Humility. Its concern is with a faith whose substance survives beyond appearance because it proceeds from confidence in Logos rather than advantage, mood or persona.

If the Trinity reveals the pattern of Love, if the Science of Salvation reveals the death of self and restoration of the person, and if Righteousness by Faith describes divine Order becoming resident within the life, then those doctrines must eventually become visible.

Primitive godliness therefore asks:

  • Do I tell the truth when deception would protect me?
  • Can I serve when no recognition follows?
  • Can I sacrifice without converting sacrifice into moral superiority?
  • Can I submit where rightful Order requires submission?
  • Can I exercise Authority without feeding self?
  • Can I forgive without pretending evil was good?
  • Can I remain just while being merciful?
  • Can I preserve another’s individuality without converting relation into possession?
  • Can I love when reciprocity disappears?

These are not peripheral questions. They reveal whether doctrine has remained external or whether Truth has begun to become Life.

The Tri-unity reveals Love’s pattern. The Science of Salvation reveals how fallen Life is restored to that pattern. Righteousness by Faith explains how that Righteousness is received and made resident. Primitive godliness is where the whole doctrine becomes visible.

What We Mean When We Say “We Believe”

When CTR says “we believe,” we do not merely mean that these propositions belong to our religious identity.

We mean that these are truths we presently understand sufficiently to receive, trust and order ourselves toward.

That does not place our understanding beyond examination. Truth does not become true because CTR affirms it, nor does it cease to be true because someone challenges it. Where our reasoning is defective, it should be exposed. Where our language is inadequate, it should be refined. Where our lives contradict the Truth we profess, doctrine should not be used to conceal the contradiction.

Christianity is not vindicated by the intensity with which Christians defend it. Its claims must be true. And where those claims concern restoration into the image of God, they must eventually bear fruit.

These works are not substitutes for Scripture, nor are they offered as claims protected from examination. They are attempts to understand more clearly the Life Scripture reveals.

Truth understood should become Life expressed.
